Behaviour

Behavioural issues can vary widely in their complexity and intensity.  No two dogs are the same, some can experience multiple issues, where others may just need to focus on one isse. Whatever your dog is struggling with, whether its

  • fear
  • anxiety
  • aggression
  • separation anxiety
  • guarding issues
  • destructiveness
  • house training
  • food/object guarding
  • obsessive/compulsive disorders
  • travelling problems
  • nuisance barking
  • handling or grooming issues

Don’t worry if your dog’s particular problem isn’t listed – it’s highly likely we have seen it before – just call to discuss, we can help!

We allow 2 hours for the initial consultation, usually at your home.  You will be required to fill in a questionnaire about your dog’s history,  this will help us estimate the time required for your consultation, this is completely dependant on the complexities of your dog’s behaviour.

We begin with a practical assessment of your dog, we then discuss the problem and the motivations for it’s occurence in detail. You will receive some initial recommendations such as a change in routine, feeding regime and problem management. 5 – 10 working days after my visit, you will receive a training plan, this will come with easy to follow handouts and dates for our practical training follow up session, this is where the real work begins.

The number of follow up sessions required, again varies depending on the problem or problems, but we will advise you at the consultation how many is usually required, so you have the option of choosing one of our packages and make a financial saving. I will liaise with your vet when necessary and will often require a health check up to rule out any possible underlying medical issues or pain that could be contributing to any aggression or anxiety issues.
